Library Services
in Big Park/Village of Oak Creek
The Village Service Center located at 56 W. Cortez Dr Suite C, and is open
20 hours per week.
Sedona Public Library opened the Village Service Center in December 2005. Now nearly 1,400 people visit each month to pick up items they’ve ordered through the Yavapai County Network, return items from any library in the Network or use the public Internet access computers.
Unreserved items that are returned each day can be checked out. The Center is a WiFi location, and many people bring their laptops for free wireless access.
The Village Service Center has no circulating collection of its own. Items can be ordered from any computer with Internet access via the Sedona Public Library site, www.sedonalibrary.org, and picked up at the Village Service Center.
Hours
Currently the Village Service Center is open 20 hours per week.
- Tuesday to Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Sedona Public Library Board of Trustees and Yavapai County have committed funding to the Village Service Center for the next three years. The Friends of the Library also have committed funds. But more money is needed to expand the Center’s services.
We would like to:
- Increase hours;
- Provide direct transit of items from the main Sedona Public Library;
- Add an additional public Internet access computer and upgrade existing public and staff computers.
To provide these additional services for the next three years, we need to raise $25,000. You can help by making a donation to the Sedona Public Library designated for the Village Service Center. Sedona Public Library is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
Other Services
This year Sedona Public Library began offering free programs in the Village at Sedona Winds Retirement Community. A number of programs and book discussions were offered through the Arizona Humanities Council. Funding was provided by the Friends of the Library, and Sedona Winds provided the space.
In addition, the popular Socrates Café has added a session at Sedona Winds. Led by Ken Dzugan, the discussion group looks at ideas and questions such as Why do we have wars? How does one live a good life? What is truth? What is law? What is democracy? Socrates Café meets at Sedona Winds on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Book Sales
The Friends of Library hold Semiannual books sales that directly fund collection expansion as well as fund children’s as well as other community programs during the year. The books that are offered through these sales come from the existing library collection that are always being replaced and by ongoing donations, from the community.
We also accept donations from those kind patrons and friends who live out of the immediate community and state as well. The donations are tax deductible and depending on the books are at times added to the collection. If you are moving in to or away from the Sedona/ Verde Valley area we will pick up collections that you desire to donate. If you have a special collection that you wish to donate call us or visit the library.
Books can be donated at the circulation desk as you enter the library, just ask, and a volunteer will assist you.
As our donations increase so does our need for volunteers. We are always in need of volunteers that are able to price and shelve your donations. If you have computer and internet experience you can do research for pricing as well as online sales. We have a great need for those who can work the book sales during the day as well early evenings. For those of you who enjoy interacting with friends and a wonderful community who buy these books it is an excellent opportunity to perform a great service. Volunteers who have advertising experience in design and print layout are needed for our advertising in the print and the internet medias.
Volunteers need not spend more than a few hours a week to make an impact for these sales. Whether you are in high school or have extra time on your hands, young or older, we can certainly use you!
